How To Install CS Tools in Cinema 4D Version 11

Today, I go though the process of installing the CS Tools in Cinema 4D v11. The process is MUCH different that in previous versions. I also use a plugin and show you how to add new elements to your interface to make adding the CS Tools to your scene even easier.

    Nice…Just nice.

  2. Ben says:

I get an error “There are no library locations defined for this command. Would you like to open the settings dialog?” I choose yes, and the settings show folder 1 pointing to my object folder with CSTOOLS installed…any ideas to why this is happening?

  3. Scout says:

    I got the same thing.

  4. Scout says:

Ah ha! Spoke too soon. I named the folder in the Library folder “objects” instead of “object” and that made the difference.

  5. ian says:

    I too am also getting:

“There are no library locations defined for this command. Would you like to open the settings dialog?”

    Same as Ben above…

  6. Tyler says:

Would be really awesome if you did a tutorial on importing C4D scene and camera data into AE and vice versa.
It’s one of the things that would be very handy, but info is scarcely available online on exactly how it’s done.

Thanks for this btw, been trying to figure this out for a while now.

    • Aleksey says:

check c4dcafe, they have a monitor wall or something along those lines with all the info. i also believe cineversity has some poorly narated tutorials on this topic for free too. although it’s practically impossible to understand what the person is saying.

  7. Esteban says:

worked just fine, this one was a great tip.

    thanks.

    Thanks nick!

  10. Hi Nick,
You often ask what other things we thought maybe you could do a tutorial on. Well, I’m lousy at all things “typography.” So anything and everything you could share on that topic would be greatly appreciated. I know it’s pretty broad, but I guess if you could talk about workflow and things to think about and resources, as well as client expectations, or what “IN” and what’s “OUT” would be great. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

I didnt find any object folder using this path:
    MAXON/Cinema 4D/Library/Objects

no objects folder only Maxon/cinema 4d/library but no objects folder… any suggestions?

  15. kurt says:

Your tutorials are great.I have little time to search this stuff out and I wouldn’t know where to begin sometimes. Fell free to get intermediate or advanced on us. I could use some help figuring out the new timeline on C4d 11. Layers, NLA etc. There are some big changes that need gorilla explanations.

    • Nathan says:

I have had some problems with using Merge Object. It brings in the objects but it would appear that the linking in expresso is all broken. If I use merge document instead it seems to work okay, Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks

  19. tom says:

Nick, Took all but 5 minutes…Good on you.
I had no problem making out the videos.
As for the Crappy Vids…comment above…
some people just don’t get it.
I think the size of the tutorial goes great with the price…Free info from the Gorilla!

  33. Raul says:

For anyone else out there who is having problems. This is how its done on 11.5

    a) after you download OLX unzip it and drop it into the plugins folder like GrayScaleGorilla explained in his video aka (YourHardDrive/Applications/Maxon/Cinema 4d r11.5/plugins/OLX 1.8

    b) run C4d go to the plugins window ex “Windows/Plugins/OLX 1.8 in settings under the tab Load Document and MergeScene locate your CSTools folder (does not matter were you put this folder)”

    c) Do like GrayScaleGorilla exampled in his video for placing the Icon on the top menu bar.

I know this is a repeat of GrayScaleGorilla install tutorial but my issue was I had to show the path to the CSTools in MergeScene not just Load document.

Hey all, anyone who is still having problems installing the OLX plugin for Cinema4D R11.5 and it won’t show up in the Plugins window…

I have figured out one possible solution to the issue. I personally like to keep the applications that come with OS X separated from the ones I install, by putting them into a applications folder in your users home folder (i.e /user/home/applications) instead of where the applications normally lie (i.e. /applications.)

The OLX plugin will NOT show up in the plugin menu if you have your Cinema 4D install anywhere except for the normal /applications folder on your main hard drive.

    Hope this helps!

Hey nick, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but I just can’t seem to get it to work right. After I click the palette button it just saying something along the lines of “No document specified, Please choose document.” and it brings up the olx menu.

Are those files for mac only? Because I’m on pc.

Hey man, great site and videos! I just started using C4D and I got to say its by far the easiest 3D program I’ve used.
I have a small problem when using CSTOOLS, Im currently running C4D version 11.5 and all of the CSTOOLS show up fine, but they dont necessarily work properly. for example, if I drag easycam, some of the properties that allow you to lock a camera do not show up. Or if I use one of the lights, the scale, rotation and other parameters do not work at all.
I’ve followed your tutorial on how to install CSTOOLS, but I cannot get them to work properly. any help would be appreciated !!

  45. Hey Gorilla, how are you?-I just installed C4D V11.5, and I can not seem to install the CS tools, I followed your directions, but there is no “merg. doc” option in palette window-when I click on my newly created icon, it says, ” there are no library locations defined for this command, can you please help?, thank you, CZ

how do you install olx nick am having trouble with it

    • Shawn says:

OLX 1.8 does not appear to be 64-bit compatible yet. On the Mac, select the application and ‘get info’, check ‘open in 32-bit mode’ and then open C4D, wha-la it’s there. Spent a long time trying to figure this out, really upsetting. Had the same issue with some other plug-ins such as Roll-it and an older version of Vue X-Stream.

  49. Hello there Nick!
Thanks a lot for this info and how to install it! very helpful… ! as always looking forward for ur interesting ideas !!

  50. Scott says:

Does anyone know where I can get cinema 4d 11.5 portable because I cant find it?

  51. Zizo says:

    Thanks Gorilla,
    Worked on my 11.5, 64bit c4d :)

One tricky thing was that i had to make a folder “object” too in my library…

didnt work with the folder i made called “CS Tools” maybe because of capital letters, space? hmm not sure, maybe because you cant create whatever folder you want in the library…

    thanks again

  52. iconst says:

  56. Hi, Nick.

I got to install the OLX 1.8 plugin and got it to point towards the object folder.
The problem I’m having is that it won’t let me put the “OLX Merge Document” with the other palettes. Would be cool if you knew a solution for that.
    I’m running C4D R12 64-bit.
    Thanks anyways.

is there a way to save layouts or personal
render settings in a folder inside cinema 4d

apparently there`s no way to find out
user settings inside cinema 4d folders
    structure.
    thanks.
