Five Second Project – “Summer In Space”

July 14, 2009

summerinspace600

Welcome to an all new five second projects. This week’s theme is “Summer In Space.” What could be better than a cannonball splash in zero gravity? Or, what about a hotdog on the moon? Create a short project based on the theme and post it in the comments to be entered into the contest.

Why Should You Enter? Check out the video…

How Do I Enter?

  • 1. Create a five second animation based on the theme.
  • 2. Upload your video to Vimeo. Don’t forget to add a link back to this blog post.
  • 3. Post a link to this posts comment thread and I will add it to the Channel.
  • 4. Deadline is July 27th

What Are Five Second Projects?
We all want to make cool shit for our reel right? Sometimes you just need a theme to get you started… Some rules to fight against. Use the theme “Summer In Space” to make a five second motion piece and link it in the comments of this blog post. “Shout Box” submissions will not be found and will not be added to the channel. Please be sure to post a link in this post’s comments to ensure me seeing it.

It’s really great to see so much participation. Tell a friend about the five second projects and get them involved too. Don’t forget to push yourself to try something new every week. What about a new piece of software or technique you have wanted to try? Take control of your creative output and Make Cool Shit!

    Good entries so far!

Looking at the pile of sheets full of sketches on my desk, I can say that the concept phase is pretty much finished for this FSP. I even made a mini story board!

I’ll get some time tomorrow to draw the character in photoshop.

This time I want to learn to do some lipsynch in AE with time remapping (a technique I saw at creativecow).

While I’m in AE, I’ll also use the IK puppet technique I learned last week for the video games FSP.

I’m really exited about this one.
These projects are such a great idea.

    Thanks Nick!

No certain size. Widescreen vids work best with the vimeo widget though. Can’t wait!

Nice work Phil. You should probably get a Vimeo account and upload it there so it can be added to the group for everyone to see. Age doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with it. Maybe experience, but like everything – some people are naturally good and some have to work really hard to get there. You seem to have a good eye for design already based off that one piece. So keep it up and you’ll be phenomenal in a couple of years.

    Phil Vallieres

Thanks for the advice, i’ll get a Vimeo account for the next project :) ps yours was so cool i loved the summer feeling with the orange!!!!!!

    Espenja

Very nice! You could just get a vimeo account right now and add the vimeo link here

I think people should shoot for exactly Five Seconds. The more boundaries, the better for these type of fast projects. If you HAVE to make it longer though… Keep it under 8 seconds please. Cheers!
