Reel Critique Rules and Overview

September 21, 2009

Just a few words about the Reel critiques before we get started.

  1. 1. Comments depend on what your goals are. I assume you want to freelance or get a job in the motion design biz. If you want to be an abstract video guy or whatev, then my critique won’t apply.
  2. 2. There will be no “Thats good for how long you have been doing it” comments. I will judge your work against working pros and others getting jobs in the industry.
  3. 3. There are “Reel comments and “Specific comments.” Decide what to do, either spend time fixing or learn from what your mistakes and move on.
  4. 4. These comments are to help, not to make fun or put down.
  5. 5. Im not the only opinion. Please leave your comments.

    Hey,

I was thinking the same thing as you guys.

Nick, will you be doing a tutorial on how you created the glow effect in your GI scene? It would be great, as I like how the glow from the balls change colour as they roll along the floor.

By the way, we’re only human after all hey Nick ;)

Hey Nick, i really hope your critiques will be posted on the blog and be accessible for everyone to read. Why? Well, i am not nearly close to get a job, i first have to get to a nice university :P but i think that by following those critiques i could really influence what i do and what i will do.
As you say, “these comments are to help, not to make fun or put down”. I hope they will help also us, who are not the owners of the real and who are only to enter into this biz.
