Great ! thanks a lot
hey nick, what is the plugin, if thats what it even is that youre using to make the city scape?
It’s a plugin that I am working on. I’m just stated building it, but it’s creating good results so far.
The city looks nice. You can spot, that the buildings are randomly distributed somehow, but what the heck, it works for me… Looking forward to see the plugin..

Excellent! Thanks Nick
This natural phenomenon is known as Atmospheric Perspective.

Rather a painting technique than a natural phenomenon.
I wanna know how u built the cityscape, did u use any plugins? It would be great if u did a video on how u create cityscape like that.
Nick just answered that a few posts above. I’m pretty sure he will do a tut for it if he starts to release/sell it. Any plans on that, Nick?
No plans yet. I just started building it this week. I’ll drop more fun stuff As I keep building.
sweet. ill have to play with this.
Looking forward to the plugin Nick.
There is currently a ‘free’ city plugin available called ‘Citygen’ by Paul Everett so might be worth doing a google for and tracking down.
PC Only
The city renders are amazing work nick! Some breakdowns or short info tut would be great!
Max
Thanks Nick!
Another great tut =) The great thing about your tutorials is that you are not only teaching us how to use c4d but you’re also teaching us why and when to use it. That’s one of the many “plus” you have. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks, Juan. That means a lot.
as always great tutorial.
how is the judging coming with the 5 second project?
whoa Nick.
this is sick. that city is just great.

pretty nice information for getting “quick” realistic renders!
I like your city renders, three tumbs up!
merci
it looks like engine for video game. You fog at the horizon to limit far vision and save calculation power. Ho my god just to test all cs tool it takes a lot of time.
Motion designers have 30h days and never sleep!
Now let’s see how many people will end up doing a graveyard for their own ‘experimentation’ with this tutorial.
So nice to soak in all that information & content from you, Nick…Numerous videos in one week….-that’s why i love this site.
TWOday,indeed :]
hey Nick,
You made this city? is awesome, just like the tutorial
I hear simcity 2000 midi.
So nick, I guess this means you have a background in programming? how does it that work when you make plugins?
Hi, I think that it’s so nice.
I have a big question that is,
I can’t fine “objects” folder in my files.
I set up OLX plug-in, but it doesn’t work.
It says that
“there are no lobrary locations defined for this command.” like that…
what am I supposed to do?
Iam sorry, it works !! thank you so much.
Looks great nice use of fog. Is the plugin similar to how I made a city here?

DOPE!!
hey nick
any tutorial or plugin to model such gr8 city
Nice tutorial, Nick!
I love these occasional quickie tutorials: there wasn’t a lot to learn, but they can remind me of a technique I might of forgotten about. And with this one, something that actually adds a lot to the project I’m currently working on.
Nick, that is exactly what was looking for.
and I agree with Juan also here
Thanks for sharing!!!
none of these CS tools seem to work, they all make cinema crash, any suggestions? I’m using version 11.5
Thanks. What a good tutorial. Wow… I noticed that there are a lot of tutorials. I have to come back everyday.
Great tutorial as always. After watching I made a mograph city similar to yours in the photos. However, when I bring in CS Fog/daylight I get superflat monotone highlights. No matter the rim and key levels. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Ory, I’ve got the same problems and I get ride of it. First don’t use GI, it doesn’t works and remove the auto light from your setup
Great tut Nick! One question… I’m using both CS Fog and the ring light from your GSG LightKit Pro. When I add CS Fog to the scene, the ring lights become visible in the render. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks again!!
No, Just go into the light’s Compositing tags and turn off “Seen by Transparency”. That should do it.
Cool, it can also be used for z-depth channel for AEpost blur
Hi Nick,
I’m using CS Tools Fog with an HDRI sky from Light Kit Pro and although I have ‘seen by camera’ unchecked on the sky I can see the HDRI image in the fog…any ideas?
The IsoCam seems to be removed now? I can’t find any information about it at all. Very confusing, what was it about?
Nick,
How does this differ or improve over the c4d fog?
Mostly easer to use.
alert(” “)
is it possible to achieve this effect?
