Cinebench is a great free program from maxon that will benchmark your computer. If you are in the market for a new computer (like I am), or just want to see how your machine stacks up when it comes to rendering, go download Cinebench and run it on your computer to get your render speed and your graphics card speed.

…knowledge is power…nice to know just how good your machine really is…
Oh, boy is everyone outdated already? I hope not.

Awesome info dude, I’m looking into upgrading my machine as well. I’ve been putting it off telling myself I’ve got a good system, I bought mine from Microsoft a few years ago, and yes they use MACS at Microsoft for making the XBOX 360 games. This is just what I needed so I can get the exact machine I need. Cheers!!
damn… i am sooooo far. My iMac is totally dead !
I’m in the market for a new machine as well. This should be handy in making sure I get some good parts. My Macbook Pro is on it’s last legs. Since I jumped into more 3D apps. Just some more info though. If you are looking to build. From the bottom up. Looks like $1700 should get you a very good machine. $2,000 to $3,000 will get you a monster. Upgrade parts as needed later. It’s gonna be hard not getting another Mac
But our tools are just tools!
I tried this on my 4 y/o macbook pro for a laugh and got 0.87 at first, without even the capability to run the open GL stuff. Just came into work to try my mac pro and got a reasonable-ish 6.36. More power captain!!
Nick, is there any chance you might expand a little further on the open GL thing as I don’t get it so much, or if anyone has a link I can follow I’d be pretty grateful. Great shit as always though Nick, you are the fricken man dude!
sadly i upgraded my video card to one with at least 2x better specs and my open GL cinebench score with the new card came out WORSE than the old card. as far as i’ve read c4d open GL handling is terrible, and needs a full overhaul. let me know if anyone has heard differently.
Hey great Nick, I too am hoping to go for the big boy when it comes out… 12 cores citin’.
I’ve been wondering about graphics cards, does anyone know the size of the largest graphics card you can get for a Mac Pro and which one it is? Particularly the new Mac Pro coming out.
I’m not the biggest fan boy but I do like power!!!
lol nick looks like u keep these videos in a stash unless yur hair grows really quick from the last video lolol, anyway nvidia just dropped a monter of a quadro for all yur production needs idk if its for mac tho
Hi Nick, thanks for reminding me. Just assemble a new PC with AMD Hex Core and this may come in handy for fine tuning.
Hi guys,
i dunno why i’ve got this error on OpenGl Test.
OpenGL Reference Matching Test Failure!
Errors in rendering are displayed as red pixels,
the difference with the reference image is too great.
The result is invalid for testing with.
i would like to say this is cool tut thanks. i have the same set-up as you and i have got to get a new one as i have realised im 4 times slower than i could be. interestign that i ran the open GL and CPU test and it came in a tad faster. just wondering on that one. this is mine, is yours the same?

AnandTech actually has a database of Cinebench benchmarks for every CPU they’ve ever reviewed.

For some reason I have a Nvdia 2.67 ghz quadro FX1700 that gives a 7.95 fps rate. And that card is supposedly made for professional use.
The GeForece880 is way cheaper, made for gameing and gives a better result!
It´s too much work knowing how the computer works and learning the programs!!
Better get change mine for a GeForce..
Another good resource is http://www.cbscores.com/
or for Cinebench 10

cheers
new macbooks i just got this dual core i7 and its benchmark is worse then my 24 ” Imac core 2 duo which is a 3.4 i think and this macbook is only 2.66
Im happy. I have just got a late 2009 iMac 27″ i7 4gb and it scored 6.1. Not bad.
with my HP C130:
OPEN GL: 36.19FPS
CPU: 4.99pts
home built computer but here´s the score:
OPEN GL: 55,54 (ati radeon 5870 CF)
CPU: 5,3 (intel i7 950 3.07Ghz)
Thanks, will check this out!
Btw – the “Download Cinebench”-link is dead.
