In this tutorial, I show you how to build a simple art gallery scene using cloners, mograph, and random effectors. Then, I show you how to light it without using global illumination or any lights at all.

Hey Nick thanks again! And for those of you who are using 11.5 you just have to crank up the gravity to a very high number and it’ll work, at least for me it did.
Cheers!
Love your site man. Wish I know have to use RSS to make it easy to come back here. Oh well, back to my statistical remuneration heuristics.

Thanks a lot. I made it and its very biutiful!
But i have a problem to open your File?
Thanks.
12.0! O.K. ; )
I have tried to learn dynamics and mograph before and didn’t have a clue. 2 years ago all the tutorials I could find were knee deep in expresso and I they would lose me after a couple of minutes. How you managed to pretty much teach me an intro to all of that, and keep me entertained is great, and I love the fact that you explain everything so that even a relative beginner can pick up any of your tutorials and have fun playing around in cinema. If you aren’t doing University lecturing yet then there is avenue for you there!
Anyway I’m off to give this tute a try. Cheers!
Thanks so much for watching. Glad you like it.
Thanks for the great tutorial. Amazing. I learned so much.

I looked for making other gravity source for months now… Needed for reels and many things,
And AGAIN, you rescued me!!!
Thanks!
(About the loads of my comments – I was watching your videos for two years now and I just started to comment today ’cause I owe you that much, and that’s my way to thank you – spam your blog XD Just kidding about the spamming)
i have r12 and when i click play even though the tags are there, they arent falling!!
Great tutorial ! Just starting with C4d and mograph, it inspired my to make this one with my daughter :

yo grey when i did this my objects when i coloured them went whats the word very weak there was no viberent colours which is what i wanted to finsh this amazing effect but i cant work out what to do man help me out.
Hi Nick !
First time I dare asking you a question since I follow you !
I usually prefer to find solutions by myself. But I’m a newbie in C4D so it would take me a while to find out this :
If in this room, I want to place some real moving people who have been filmed in front of a green screen.
Is there any possibily that the balls interact with them ?
I mean, to do so I know that I need to import them into C4D with alpha, but how can I place them into my scene as if my moving people are like objects…?
Thanks a lot in advance !
Max, a big fan as you probably know…
eres tan buena gente
Is it possible, to use more than one gravity object in a scene ? I mean, gravity 1 for cloner 1 , gravity 2 for cloner 2 ?
Give this tutorial a shot.

Sorry im quite new to cinema 4d followed the awsome tutorial all the way…but how do you record the animation?!! any help would be much appreciated!
Hey Im having a really annoying and serious problem when Im trying to animate the gravity. Everything is set up correctly, but when I put one keyframe of the gravity on 0, and the next frame I add a keyframe and make the gravity go to 1000, it overwrites the other keyframe to be also 1000, so basically it cant animate. Please help, this really looks awesome!
hey is there a reason why the rendered image appears grainy when i turn on ambient incclusion
Thank you very much for posting these videos. I’m a complete newcomer to 4D and these videos couldn’t be more helpful.
Just as an extra, I’m using 11.5 like some others here so I didn’t have the dynamic tags mentioned in the tut but I just used ‘Mograph Tags > Rigid Body’ on the cloner object and it did the job. Like I say, complete newcomer so I’m probably doing the wrong thing or something but if it helps anyone, that worked for me.
You are my hero!!
Man just discovered your website last night, only if i found it much much earlier your videos are so entertaining, useful been all day on your tutorials magnificent looking forward to your next master piece.
Thanks for watching!!
Hey Nick! Still figuring out C4D and you’ve been helping me out a lot.
On a side note, when I turned on Ambient Occlusion, my sphere shadows get really grainy. Any ideas? Thanks, man!
I had the same problem, this look likes super 8mm camera style ahah
Thank you for this awesome tutorial!

Hi Nick! This is my video inspired by this tutorial.

Thanks for teaching us!!
How to render those black lines on the balls?
Nick,
What did you use to create the lighting effect on the compositing? Great tutorial BTW!
No, Nick… Thanks to you, you gave us a little more of understanding + fun with your tutorials and comments, I really starts to comprehend the software with you and I really appreciate that. =)
Hey nick, thanks for the tutorial. I’m having trouble with the gravity animation. I can only the balls to go towards one wall. in your video, you rotated the gravity several times, which ive done, but your objects follow the gravity, and mine dont. itll only follow the gravity to the last point ive set it at. does this have something to do with keyframes? im utterly confused.
hey nick, thanks for all your help. I followed the tutorial, , but added some other stuff as well to the video.. http://vimeo.com/34362677
thank u bro for the tutorial..you had a good job…
Here’s my attempt. It’s actually my first time doing anything in 3D, so I apologize for not straying too far from the parameters of the tutorial. That said though I am surprised at how much I was able to learn. The hardest part was animating everything because you didn’t go over that and I had no previous experience. By the end I was even able to figure out how to animate the Force setting so that everything wouldn’t explode in the beginning. Thanks for a fantastic intro into 3D!
