Five Second Project Winner – “CMYK”

Congratulations to Florian Geyer for winning the CMYK five second project. His simple, but effective animation has some really sexy key-framing going on and is tied super duper tight to the audio track. But, more importantly this piece speaks to the subtractive nature of the CMYK process and tells a simple story though the five seconds. Check out his winning animation below and also don’t forget to watch the honorable mentions. This was one of the largest turnouts for a Five Second Project ever. So, as always, it was super difficult to pick winners. Thank you to EVERYONE who submitted a piece. UPDATE 2: Hey everyone this is Neal. So here is the low down on what is happening and why a lot of entries have not been posted. A couple of days before the deadline Vimeo updated their privacy settings, and that screwed up everyones videos that they uploaded. I was not able to add any videos to the channel. I had tried to message everyone that entered and ask them to change their settings but it was very time consuming and I am sure everyone didn’t get the message that I sent out. I still have all the emails in my inbox, so what I need you guys to do is go to your entries and make sure the privacy settings are set so that I can add the video to a channel. Over the course of the next 24 hours I will go back through and add all the ones I can. Thanks!

UPDATE: Hi everyone. We are reviewing the comments right now to make sure everyone gets added. Keep in mind, the form in the blog post is the only official way to get your video added. As far as I know, everyone that has submitted though the form has been added. Either way, we are looking though the comments and double checking. Sorry about the problems. We are always trying to make this easier for everyone. But, with over 150 entries, some people fall though the cracks. As always, thanks for all the awesome entries. Winners will be announced this week after we get this all sorted out. Cheers!

Winner of the Five Second Project, “Countdown”

Winner

Congrats to Tridente Brand Firm for winning the “Countdown” five second project. This spot combined simple visual and audio metaphors to create a cohesive countdown to zero in all mediums. The spot starts off with 5 sided shapes and reduces itself down through the seconds all the way to one dot in the center to represent “one”. The Shades of grey also get darker as the spot progresses. The audio also follows suit, reducing in sound quality until the spot comes to a screeching low bit-rate ending. Wow! With over 200 entries, this Five Second Project has become the most entered Project to date! With all those great entries, it was also the hardest to judge. After much deliberation, I think this spot by joshua catalano, with it’s 8 bit style transitions and lovely “straight” logo shows great variation in technique and does the most with the limitations. Contgratsulation to Adam Rosenbaum for winning the “Self Portrait” Five Second Project. His animation is packed with small detials that explain many different parts of his life. It even takes multiple viewings to see all of the elements. The fun nature of the animation really tells me a lot about Adam’s attitude as well. Great work.

This Project had a great varied look to all of the entries. Every piece was personal and very unique. Great job to everyone! I always appreciate the large participation. It’s great to see so much killer work come out of these projects. Sorry it took so long to announce the winners on this one. I will announce the new one soon. Stay tuned, and keep making cool shit!
