  1. Agustin Marcocci

Ohhhhhh wow! This is gonna be a very difficult one!! But i love the theme!!!! I better start working on my project! Cheers!!:)

  2. James Grochowalski

    Sounds awesome!
Probably going to get a lot of entries on this one.

    • Ray Houghton

i was expecting you might do yours ending with a paper bag over your mug

  3. James Grochowalski

You just wasted your time posting that.
You can stay at your mediocrity level while the rest of us continue to learn more and push ourselves to learn more.

  4. Keep it to your self dude.. no one needs to hear how you think our creativeness and opportunities are dumb. If you want to get away from the 5 second projects don’t visit this site.

  5. Daniel Amedoda

Hey Nick, does it have to be based on our own self portrait?

    • Hi Daniel! I’d reply if you don’t mind :)

as Nick wrote “This one is all about YOU! Make a five second animation about yourself.”
so I think yeah, it have to be about you and only you. On the other hand – it’s always up to you actually! Everyone will be glad to see what others come up with! I personally plan to start the 2nd entry if there is still time after the 1st one is finished.

  6. Mark Dickie

Nice one, this should be huge!

This theme should very nicely integrate into a show reel.

  7. HEY NICK!
I think you should make an entry as well every time there’s a five sec project. Would be cool. and then perhaps you could explain how you did it and stuff…

    • Yeah, and the winner should always pick a new theme so Nick can’t plan his entry in advance

hi Nick, its great fun following your blog.
    figured i joined this time
must admit i already had the mesh. Thought i’d give it a try and threw it in a cloner object to play around with the target and thus make it a 5 sec project
After that i added me myself and i text. Then added Dela Soul. So here it is!
Actually starting on the inside of the mesh kinda gives it a Hieronymus Bosch-look and feel.
The portrait also had hair attached, but that don’t work in the cloner, maybe i should have baked in advance.oh well…t’wasn’t much hair anyway

  9. Hey, I just found out about this webpage, I love the idea of the project…but when’s the deadline?

  10. Okay, I enjoyed my first FSV contest. I spent probably 20 whole minutes on it.. next time I should spend more free time doing such.. I believe this is a great experience for learning and when i speak of the site I tell people that there are kind of lesson plans and this is the HomeWork. Here is my video:
I like it, but i know i could have done a lot better because i know how to do a lot more stuff.. next time i’d like to make a better video for you (the people who view my videos) to watch and enjoy. thanks for watching and participating. glad to have a community like you guys.
    Thank you
    -Sam Welker

Had to think hard on this one. I could have titled this one, My Personal Contact Lens. The point being I see the world through my camera’s eye. Here’s the link,

  12. My C4D suddenly requires legit serials after an update… Beware….

    • AEWood

You can’t be added to the 5SP group if you do it through youtube, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put it on Youtube. Vimeo is free though, if you want to make an account!

  13. I have an idea that I think will help people viewing and making the videos for this topic.

I think a good idea is that you give a good detailed description as to why you feel the video fits the topic. I think that should be a rule for this. by writing out a good detailed description it will help you think logically about what your trying to convey in your video and it will help other better understand your creativity.

I think there are some really creative videos but some of the same videos missed the topic mark. One thing that helps me is to story out the design that I’m making. That makes me acknowledge some of the issues of design and inconsistency.

    • KJ Mawdsley

Oh – posted that time – well here’s my entry:
It’s inspired by the constant struggle between emotion a logic. I often view myself as a dichotomy. But in a fun and kitsch way! ;)

  14. Hey guys I have a ten second project up that I did in my spare time and I’d appreciate it if you could let me know what you think… also I’m not sure where to post comments like this so I’m putting it here just this once..

  15. Hello guys, I’m having trouble with vimeo distorting my video to a wrong aspect ratio.

    anyone can help me?
I read vimeo faq and help, but I’m afraid that I have to do another clean upload instead of video replacement.
This would lead me to over exceed the deadline.

    I appreacite any help,

    • Frige

..this year hadn’t had a february 29th. Not even in the Netherlands.

    • Hey Nick,

Just checked the Vimeo channel and to my horror I didn’t see my entry among the runners.

The thought of missing out on your contest is almost too much to bear!

    • I really hope i can still enter Nick ? Because i’ve had quite some work on this one, a nice practice on rigging and modelling though !

    • H McCafferty

Sorry, I just realised the first link was wrong, I had uploaded it twice by accident. D’oh!

  16. Hey Nick, I realized only after I finished my 5 second video that the deadline was 8 days ago, Maybe you can find it in your good graces to add mine:
    Thanks very much!

Its late, super late….sorry. if its to late for it to be considered for the contest i’d really appreciate some feedback. Its my first time entering and i’m kind of nervous.

    • hasn’t been announced yet. Nick must be busy with something big!
hope there will be enough time for another 5SP before the end of the month
