How To Install CS Tools In Cinema 4D Version 12 (Also works for 11.5) 49 Comments

I know, I know. It seems like there is a new way to install CS Tools with every new version of Cinema 4D. Luckily, this new way works with almost all of them. In this short tutorial, I show you how to use the Content Browser to install and use the CS Tools.

    The CS tools are included with C4D v12. They are scattered in the various preset sections. For instance, the CS cameras are located in Presets/Broadcast/Resources/Cameras.

    CS tools have been crashing my Cinema 4d ver. 11.5 any ideas??
    there is not any support on the download page. does anybody else have this problem??

    I noticed that CS_Spriticles and CS_Particles don’t work with R12. Do I have the wrong setting or is there an easy adjustment fix?

    Hey Nick, I have cinema 4d R12 and when I go into the content browser and select the folder which contains the CSTOOLs (including the smooth cam) nothing is showing up. It is just a blank folder? Why is that? I am following the tutorial perfectly however when in the content browser the folder is empty and will not show the .c4d files. However the folders outside of C4d are not empty?

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

      There are two panes in the content browser. be sure to select the folder and you will see the contents of the folder in the pane to the right.

    Yep i have restarted C4D i followed exactly what you did now a few times and it is not working. I bought C4d with version 12 never dealt with version 11.5 so I dont know if that has something to do with the c4d files not showing up but this is really starting to make me crazy! Help

    when i am draging the dayligt tool (for exmple)
    to the action plan , its not allow to put it there…
    its not allowing to the cstools to be in the action plan…
    Please help me :-)

      And the file are in text file (inside the contant browser)all of them are in a text file
      and in the regular folder (not inside c4d they are a c4d files..)
      Please help!!!

    your tutorial is helpful but to a certain exstent,

    I am downloading the CS tools into Cinema 4D 12 and that works fine but when i bring it into the actaully program they show up but only as scripts.

    If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated

    Hi nick,
    Currently learning c4d and i have just come acroos cs tools.
    However i am having an issue with the cstools, 3d stroke for example in 13.
    Only the thickness is working, the offset, length and taper do nothing. However i have an old version 11 and it seems to work perfectly in this version. Just wondered if you would be able to shed any light on why this doesnt work? If you know of any conflicts in 13, or get arounds?

    When you said go to Windows—>Content Browser, How do I make it fit in like yours?.
    On mine, it opens in a new window, I want to make it like the layers pallet…If you know what I mean?

    I have the Problem with cstools, 3d stroke in Cinema 13. Only the Thickness graber works. In Cinema 12 it works perfectly. Is their workaround??

    Thanks for the turorial. Those tools are really great !! However the 3D stroke doesn’t work here. Only the thickness parameter is able. Do you know how to fix it?

    Hi I’m a newbie in AE and Cinema 4d workflow, so i have a question.=)
    Is there CS TOOL have full support in R14 or not?
    For exemple in 3D Stroke not all controllers are working…
    Do someone have a problem like mine, or I just something don’t understand? )))

      I have the same problem with CS Tools. It seems through changes in Xpresso R14 spline manipulation does not work anymore in 3DStroke. Unfortunaly I do not know how to fix it, can anyone help?
