30 Unforgettable Movie Opening Sequences: One Missing

January 2, 2009 - By

Quality list of Movie Opening Sequences including two of my top three favorites (Catch Me if You Can and Se7en.) My absolute favorite opener, Royal Tenenbaums, didn’t make the list. To make it worse, I can’t find it online anywhere. Bummer.

Amelie (an honorable mention) is one of the best out there.

Watch – when possible, the little girl is doing something related to the credit at the time (hanging cherries over her ears for Wardrobe credit).

  • While not a movie, if you’re into opening credits, you’ve got to check out AMC’s Mad Men. I’ve seen every episode and never skip over them – they’re just too beautiful.

  • If you’re into titles, you’ll probably enjoy The Art of the Title: http://www.artofthetitle.com/

It’s a website that has dozens and dozens of title sequences from a wide variety of films. Many of the videos are DVD quality, too.
