City Kit for Cinema 4D Demo

February 14, 2011 - By

I’m really excited to finally be able to show this thing off. Xpresso wizard Chris Schmidt and I have been working on this for quite a few months now, so it’s really exciting that it’s finally here. We built this to be the easiest to use and most photo realistic looking city for cinema 4D while still being fast to render in production. We can’t wait for you to start playing with it and use it in your projects.

Sneak Peak At My Upcoming Product: HDRI Studio Pack

December 8, 2010 - By

If you have been following GSG lately, you may have noticed that I have gone a bit crazy for Global Illumination and image based lighting. IBL is a simple way to light you scene by using pre-made images instead of 3D lights. After playing more and more with this technique, I realized that this would work REALLY great for product shots. So, with all this new knowledge, I set off to make a product that will make it super simple to light your product shots and make them look beautiful. I’m calling it HDRI STUDIO PACK.

It’s made so you can easy bring in a model, add a Seamless Floor and pick an HDRI image to along with it. You then have all the controls you need to make the product look beautiful and hit render.

The best part are the over 50 HDRI images included with the Pack. These HDRI images are images of actual studios that I built in cinema 4D. I set up popular studio setups and baked them into HDRI images so that you could use them too!

I will have much more news about this pack as the week continues. For now though, check out the video above and the examples below and let me know what you think!

Slow Motion 60 fps GoPro HD Footage Test

November 19, 2010 - By

An experiment at the Dunes with my camera my friends and the dogs.

Filmed with the GoPro HD HERO Camera Naked at 60fps, slowed down and color graded in After Effects with Vintage Film For Looks. The quality of the video is really good for such a little teeny camera. I love that it’s water proof to, so I don’t mind the dogs biting and drooling on it.

Another note. It’s amazing what slowed down footage and a sad song will do to a fun day at the beach. Music is more than 50% of the mood. Just saying.

Fun With Image Based Lighting

November 16, 2010 - By

I have been playing a ton with image based lighting lately. It’s basically using purely HDRI images and Global Illumination to light your scenes. It’s a bit tricky to use GI with animation. But, for stills, it works wonders. More to come soon.

August 31, 2010 - By

I have been working on a new update for the HDRI Light Kit Pro that should be out within a week or so. So excited, in fact, that I wanted to give you guys a sneak peak into the new “Daylight” Rig that will be included.

This rig quickly simulates daylight lighting with sun and sky and renders very realistic shadows and highlights with and without Global Illumination. I have been using it a TON lately and I can’t wait for you guys to try it when the new version of the HDRI Light Kit Pro comes out. This will be a free update for existing users which means that anybody that buys the kit before the new version comes out will get the update FREE in their email inbox.
