  • Hi Nick,

again a very interesting podcast. I agree 100% with you about pricing. I have my own company “tonjuwelen GbR” now since 10 Years. But there is one real important thing you forgot. Tax!!!

One day (sooner or later) you have to pay 20% to 35% of your income to the state you live in. And trust me, it`s so important to keep this in mind. Or you´re broke…

    Cheers Frank

  • You are brilliant man, that’s the most accurate sysnthesis that I’ve ever heard about what I have been learning this last year, our first one as a production team. It’s pretty obvious sometimes but from now on you are the voice that I will need in my brain when it comes to budgeting stuff…
Oh, and the things you said that I didn’t know. Thanks man! And thank the world because there’s so much to learn, and there will be.

(I beg your pardon for my english)
    & Cheers!

Sorry to do this to you, but I kinda wanna show you, and I thought I would post it here!
Look at this little set up i made and you can see I got a “Candy Stripe” texture going on and the top and bottom are also separate colours. There is a much easier way to do this than your tutorial!
    Please Reply Nick!

  • hey nick, check this video out! Its whole music video made using your tron car, city kit etc. its great!

Here is another useful resource that I use:

  • I’d really like to see that tropicana commercial now, can you post a link?

    Great Podcast !

  • Hi Nick, very interesting talk! Thanks for all your insight!

I have a question about pricing. You mentioned that when you sit down with a client, you should show them the math, explaining the hourly rate of employees, etc. My question is, how do you justify your profit margin with your client?

Obviously we want to make a bit of a profit from our projects, so what is the polite way of saying, “We have 3 employees working 5 days for $35/hour, which is $4200, but we will charge you $5000 because we need to make a profit?”

  • nice one. I think this represents a typical workflow for a production, atleast with my experience. Keep it up nick !
