Animate a Simple Character in Cinema 4D

January 22, 2016

In this 2 part tutorial, I’m going to go over my workflow for how I animated this little sushi character in Cinema 4D along with some handy tips and tricks I use for my little animated GIF characters.

In Part 1, I’ll cover how I created & animated the face by using tools like Spline Shader & the Pose Morph Tag.

In Part 2, I’ll show you how I animated the sushi dude and use Deformers to add secondary animation to make our animation more dynamic, interesting, and playful.

If you have any questions, post them in the comments!  Be sure to post any examples of you using this technique in your projects as well!  Thanks for watching!

      • The body is a super simple setup, the rice ball is a rounded cube with a texture with some displacement noise on it, the sushi bit is a simple cube with subdivision surface.

    Very good.
But I have a question. There is a video on the link below.
I want to know how he made this video. He used what tools he used to appear in the “Blue House” (in seconds 20-24). And what tool he used to disappear the “blue house” (in seconds 25 to 27). And The other question is whether there is a “presets” or “plugin” for Cinema 4D for this. Thank you.
