About The Role
Join our small but growing operations team as our Human Resources Manager to help mold our fabulous remote workplace culture!
We are seeking an experienced, Part-Time HR Contractor to join our team. The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing various human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Recruitment & Staffing: Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, interviewing, hiring and onboarding new employees. Work with the Head of Operations to develop and maintain a talent pipeline for future hiring needs including compensation analysis and comp bands.
- Employee Relations: Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance on HR policies, performance issues and conflict resolution. Help to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Disciplinary action and terminations: Lead and manage the disciplinary process, including issuing warnings, conducting investigations, and, when necessary, executing terminations in accordance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
- Performance Management: Support management in performance evaluations, goal-setting, and employee development. Assist in addressing performance issues and creating improvement plans where necessary.
- Compliance & Policies: Work with our Rippling ASO to ensure the company is compliant with all local, state and federal labor laws. Work with Rippling EOR to handle and address Canadian Employee standards. Maintain and update HR policies, and procedures within the Rippling Platform. Utilize Rippling Templatized Handbook to create and maintain Employee Handbook. Monitor workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA or relevant regulations for our local production office in Chicago.
- HR Administration: Manage employee records, benefits administration including HSA contributions, and payroll coordination with the finance team. Handle HR-related queries and documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
What We’re Looking For:
- You are a senior level HR generalist with 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a small to medium size remote business environment that employs International, US and EOR employees, long term contractors and hourly PT staff.
- You understand organizational structure, policy, compliance regulation and HR Best practices.
- You’re an approachable person who understands the soft-skills and has the ability to communicate with all status levels of employees in a mostly remote environment. ● You have a unique ability to make benefits, policies, and procedures approachable and understandable.
- You have the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- You are an excellent written communicator.
- You have experience in recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
- You’re an eternal student who believes that learning never ends.
- You have an understanding of working with a remote only team.
- You’re able to work in a diverse team that comes from different backgrounds/genders/ethnicities.
- You have a flexible schedule with some availability during normal working business hours to address employee needs.
